Who are we?

We are a group of University of Auckland students who, at the beginning of 2021, wanted to solve several problems:

  • At our university there was no platform where, having completed your research, you could publish that research to share with your fellow students.

  • There was no academically-focused magazine that allowed guest writers to submit scientific journalism.

  • We lacked a centralised place to promote our exemplary students, give all students a publication to aspire toward, and provide experience with academic writing.

This is where UoA Scientific came in. Now with 10 executive members, the scope of the publication has grown well beyond what we envisioned. We have attracted praise from prominent figures such as particle physicist Professor Brian Cox - a world-renowned science communicator, and host of the "Wonders Of..." TV series.

We currently publish four times a year. One issue is published each half semester, and a further summer issue is released during the summer break.
